Jason McCue is an internationally renowned lawyer and human rights advocate, recognized as the U.K. Law Society’s Lawyer of the Year (2010) and European Human Rights Lawyer of the Year (2023) for his work in Africa, Ukraine, and beyond. Jason’s specialisation – in practice and academically – is lawfare: the use of law to gain strategic advantage and societal change for the better. He has acted/advised for numerous heads of state, governments, opposition groups, international bodies (including the UN and AU), NGOs, civil society campaigns, and victims’ groups. Key roles include his role and the UN/AU facilitator for the Darfur Peace Process, Presidential Envoy for Somaliland, and head of the LibyaUK Victims Reconciliation Group. He currently leads Ukraine’s Civil Society Lawfare Programme and its Payback4Ukraine campaign. He is working on his first trade book project.
