James Womack is an academic at Cambridge University and a writer of speculative fiction, a translator, and a poet. He is the author of four acclaimed poetry collections with Manchester-based publisher Carcanet, including Why Are You Shouting? (2024). He translates widely from Spanish and Russian, most recently The Hive by the Spanish Nobel Laureate Camilo José Cela (NYRB Classics, 2023). He lives in Cambridge and is currently working on a novel.
